Glasses Westbury is what we are known for locally. The science behind how our eyes work has always fascinated Dr. Gail Correale. We have the best Glasses Westbury has to offer. From the time she first donned a pair of prescription eyeglasses at the age of 10, Dr. Correale knew she would someday be an Optometrist. In 2011 she relocated her office to a large professional suite in Westbury, The development of contact lenses is an old story, dating back to 1500 - 1508.
The first insight into the treatment of optical defects of the cornea with a device is given to the great Italian, Leonardo da Vinci. Master Leonardo filled a bowl with water, then placed a man's face into it. It is said that for the first time the individual was able to see clearly. There are two very important factors about this discovery. Improved refraction and improved peripheral visual acuity.
Leonardo da Vinci also made a contact lens with a funnel on one side so that water could be poured into it. Of course, this was immediately discarded due to impracticality.
In 1636, after reviewing Leonardo's work, a French scientist, Renee Descartes, in a special medical treatise, Ways of Perfecting Vision, described a concept of a lens placed directly onto the eye. He developed a tube he could fill with water and place directly against the cornea. This was also impractical and discarded.
We must remember that early technology did not make it possible to develop and manufacture devices that would fit directly on the eye and produce good vision. That being the case, spectacle lenses were the only devices used to correct vision. Patient's with regular corneas and normal astigmatism had very good vision. Individuals with corneal astigmatism or diseases and abnormalities of the cornea had minimal visual improvement with glasses. Wearable contact lenses did not begin to evolve until the nineteenth century. In 1801, NY which she shares with Dr.Susan Fisher. There she continues to provide exceptional eye care from comprehensive eye exams using the latest available technology to expert contact lens fittings to Lasik consults, pre ops, post ops and much more. Her office boasts an atmosphere that is both professional and welcoming. Best Glasses Westbury

COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMS
Your eyes are truly a window to your health! We often seek medical attention if our eyes hurt, or turn red, or if our vision becomes blurry. However, we do not often get our eyes examined regularly if we are not having any problems with them. Routine eye examinations are important even if our eyes and vision are fine because many blinding eye diseases have few or no warning signs until they have taken away some or all of our vision.
Dr. Correale’s exams are a thorough evaluation of the eye and visual system. Aside from determining the need for optical correction, our ocular health will be assessed and evaluated for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. An eye examination may also reveal complications of systemic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension as well as complications from medications. Her office is equipped with state of the art pre-testing and examination equipment to help her protect her patients from these diseases and unwanted conditions.
